The last two years have been challenging times for many individuals and organizations, but there is good in all situations if we look for and learn from it. One of best things that have come out of the last several months of turmoil is the focus on what is important. We are thankful where we may have taken things for granted in the past. We are realizing how much we appreciate our jobs, our families and our health. Priorities are taking on a new light, we are discovering our intrinsic motivations... all of these things are good, however, most of us would agree without "troubles" we do not take time to reflect, appreciate and value what means the most to us.
This is the time of year we are reflecting on what is significant. As leaders, you have a lot on your plate. No matter what is happening in the world you have to keep pushing forward. You still have to balance your personal responsibilities with your professional ones. You often have to be the bearer of bad news. You have to inspire, train, develop, recruit and keep the budget balanced.
It takes vigor, commitment and passion to lead your people out of love. I have been fortunate this year to work with many leaders with such commitment and "hearts of gold".
I want to dedicate this December Newsletter to all of the leaders who are continuing to push forward in devotion for your people with fever to be the best you can be. I have personally been inspired.
For the leader's I have not yet had the opportunity to work with, I would like to list what I have discovered this year that creates "The Leader's Heart":
- Passion, Love, Persistence
- Faith, Values, Trust
- Believe, Vision, Relationship
- Growth, Development, Inspiration
- Investment, Commitment, Tenacity
- Strength, Integration, Loyalty
- Faith, Hope, Open to Learn, and Change
There are many other words that could be added to this list.
To all of you leaders with a Leader's Heart, we at MSBCoach salute you. Thank you for the privilege to work with you and your teams. Our hats are off to all you do!
Merry Christmas! |

In our January Issue We will Focus on the Possibilities. Here are some quotes to get your thinking:
"Become a possibilitarian. No matter how dark things seem to be or actually are, raise your sights and see possibilities -- always see them, for they're always there." - Dr. Norman Vincent Peale
"One of the saddest lines in the world is, 'Oh come now - be realistic.' The best parts of this world were not fashioned by those who were realistic. They were fashioned by those who dared to look hard at their wishes and gave them horses to ride." - Richard Nelson Bolles
"The world would have you agree with its dismal dream of limitation. But the light would have you soar like the eagle of your sacred visions." - Alan Cohen
"It's kind of fun to do the impossible." - Walt Disney |

"When coasting in our comfort zones, we don't grow. We continue to do more of the same.... Maintaining a comfort zone can, paradoxically, lead to discomfort in the long run. If by being comfortable we avoid important life issues, internal tension accumulates.... Eventually, as both internal and external pressures for change persist, the ‘comfort zone’ ceases to serve us." - Eric Allenbaugh
It takes effort to change. What do you most want to change in your life? Make a list of what you can do to start the process. Try journaling, perhaps. Read books. Take a course. Find a mentor. Seek out support.
How will you commit time to make it happen? When are you going to start? Your life is passing quickly!
"Be not afraid of changing slowly; be afraid only of standing still." - Chinese Proverb |
